This is what happens with a lightweight .270 with a scope that has a 2 inch eye relief.
Excuse my hair, I just got done lifting weights. :)
Just thought I would share.

Not too bad--seen half circles with shotgun scopes being sighted in from the bench :((
Keep the shotgun handy!!
I guess you know now it should have been 3&1/2 inches.
At least you have hair.
Never had scope bite marks, but several burns from hot brass. doesn't look too bad. I saw 1 guy that it wouldn't stop bleeding. Got em right between the eyes.

That has to hurt but from some ''scope/head'' arguments I have seen - not too bad!!
On the ''scope ouch scale'' probably a healthy 6 or so![]()

Don't feel too bad. I was shooting my pistol gripped, folding stock shotgun with the stock folded. I also had the shotty held up to eye level.
Well... I was doing fine... then I forgot to brace myself for one shot. The shotgun recoiled and the pivot for the stock came back and hit one of the knockout buttons: right below my nose above my upper lip.
I dropped like a stone and bled.
I finally got up and went in. The girlfriend I had at the time had given me the shotgun (should have kept that one!) fixing supper (again, should have kept that one!) and when she asked me what happened, I was stupid enough to tell her. She blamed herself and likely still does. (As an aside, we're talking again, friendly-like, after years apart... good thing.)

its very hard for a guy like me to keep quite when such things are posted, your making it harder!
Sixto, if'n we gotta have a discussion, let's take it to PMs.
I will say at the time I was young and dumb. I've learned since. I also learned not to use an airgun 'scope (1" tube) on a shotgun. That hurt as well. I went out and bought the proper one the next day.
Sometimes when you're a pup (teenager) you don't realize exacty how far back you're driving your shoulder when you're shooting. Additionally, when you grow up shooting 12 gauge and the recoil feels like nothing anymore and the expense of the shells is your only complaint, sometimes complacency and stupidity step in and you get knocked down. You learn, get back up, dust yourself off, and don't do that again.
It's like sticking a penny in a wall socket. I never personally did that but know some who did. They just didn't do it again. Sure, you can get hurt, but that's fairly uncommon (contrary to what would be believed).
We just have to keep this type of thing quiet in the gun community because we have a rep to protect. On the other hand, some layman goes and tests to see if a wire is live by touching it... well, who's gonna ban electricity?

no offense here but usually a ring around the eye or getting hit in the face by the gun you are shooting is usually a trait of new, in experienced or poor shooters.
thanks for sharing though and keep practicing!!
Joshua, its nothing personal; don't get your self all worked up. I am just finding humor in the posts is all.
