I have one of the 9mm Sigmas, and its trigger pull is rather hefty as well. Mine only has a few hundred rounds through it, but some of the members on here say that they will lighten up some with more use. It takes some getting used to the heavy double action trigger (I usually shoot single action pistols and revlovers), but with practice you can get used to it and learn how to shoot it accurately with the heavy trigger pull. Another suggestion is to practice dry firing it (with snap caps if you prefer) this will both get you used to the feel of the trigger and possibly help break it in.

Keep in mind that the idea behind the heavy trigger pull is to compensate for the fact that there is no external safety device on the weapon. Yes there are DAO pistols with no external safety with lighter trigger pulls, but IMO they should not be down as low as a single action trigger pull for safety reasons. Just my $.02

I am not a sigma fan , but I do love the M&P smith ( when i fully expected to hate them before i shot one ) lol . To address the trigger pull issue tho , I belive wolf makes a set of springs for it that should help out a bit . If your not kinda gunsmith inclided or the nervous type , just take it to a smith and tell them to put a comp spring pack in it .

I have also found that the trigger gets smoother with shooting more.

This just gives you another excuse to get to the range more often....

Very true and it helps to dry fire it.

I have, carry and use as a HD gun a 40VE. The older Sigmas had a lighter trigger but had some problems with them. They re-engineered it to make it reliable.

My vote is to not mess with the trigger system. The heavier trigger will make you a much better shooter with all of your guns. It will make you have good trigger control to keep your sight picture.

    Enjoy your 40VE.
