Any idea what this 'THING' is?

Had to see a lawyer today ( good kind I am the plaintiff.) On the way I passed a inner city pawn shop that NEVER has good guns or good prices but you got to look. I spot this in the case. Time was tight and the Indy version of Chumley was too busy eating. It has some stampings on the left side, in spite of looking home made. I go back in 10 days and will get a better look. You usually don't see sheet metal and wood screws on a handgun but I will see. At $199 I don't think people will be lining up. It almost looks looks like the WW2 Liberator.

I have NOT a clue; any guess as to the caliber, it looks like it could be some sort of homemade .22LR.

I agree it does look like a Zip gun but the barrel has something that looks like SPORTS_ _ E on it. I go back to the lawyer on Oct 4th and will stop buy and look it over then. I been hitting 2-3 gun shows a month for the last 40+ years and have never seen anything even close. Sheet metal and wood screws on a firearm?

Can't imagine it's mag fed and almost looks like a tip up barrel. IF it is still there I MAY offer them $50 just for a wall hanger.

My great uncle had an old air-pistol that looked remarkably similar to this, though it had a longer barrel. It's been about 45 years since I've seen it, but as I recall you would twist the rear breech cap which opened up an aperture. Then you'd insert the pellet (a .22 cal pellet I think) and close the breech cap. It was neither powerful or accurate. I tried to google the make, but the closest I could come was a brand name of 'Slavia'. I was unable to find this particular model.

It would appear to be a "Hy-Score Sportster" air pistol.

Nice work! We need to put you to work on the Zapruder film and find out who was on the grassy knoll!
