I don't go very often, but when I do, I use an oral turkey call to make a rabbit squeal sound. I haven't been very successful with this method, but I know others who have.

My cow horn howler was made using an instruction manual from Herb that was originally published in American Rifleman in the 70's before he started retailing them. He (or his family) still makes them.
Of all of them, electronic included, my homemade dakota howlers seem to work the best.

I had good luck using an electronic recording of a litter of puppies or kittens! I know it sounds weird but I've had better luck with that than commercial electronic calls. Don't be surprised if you also call in a bobcat! Good luck!

I have used one of the "doe in heat estrous bleat" can's, during deer season and had two, one in 2010, and another in 2011 come in close enough to get lead.
Another time, while turkey hunting my buddy and his son, sitting almost back to back while calling turkey, mutually were surprised by a coyote that came within 10 feet rather quickly, and escaped before my buddy and his son could regain composure and blast it.
