About LinkBacksTook one of my daughters to the range on Saturday. She's been shooting a while, mainly .22's, but this is the first time she has shot my 1911. Prior to this, the largest pistol caliber she had shot was a .38spl.
I think she likes it :)

Took one of my daughters to the range on Saturday. She's been shooting a while, mainly .22's, but this is the first time she has shot my 1911. Prior to this, the largest pistol caliber she had shot was a .38spl.

Just curious ~ How was she hitting with it?
Has the .22 rimfire practice carried over to the .45?
Get her to work on her grip & stance & you're good to go.
I had a lot of fun teaching my wife & daughter how to shoot.
One warning though, once you let them shoot your guns, you may lose those firearms to them. On the bright side, then you can go buy more.

I thought her grip was fine... stance, not so much. She's actually leaning against the rail. Hey... we're working on it!
She bounces empty 12g shotshells around pretty well from 7-15 yards with my Buckmark :)
In this case, she was aiming at paper, at 25 yards, and we weren't paying much attention to what she was hitting. I was more concerned with her being comfortable with it. She put about 30 rounds through it, and went back to the .22's and .38's.
Detail strip it? That springer has a 2 piece guide rod... I'm not quite ready for her to field strip it, much less detail it!

A girl I dated after high school, her father is a former SEAL and had gotten her into shooting when she was 11. He started her out the same with .22s. She now does IDPA with a Browning Hi-Power and supposedly does very well.
I'm always glad to see young people out shooting. You have her off to an excellent start. :)

This will sound perverted to the anti's, but nothing makes me smile like seeing a child with a gun in their hands having one hell of a good time.
The smiles just radiate and makes ones heart flutter with happiness.
Nothing warms the cackles of this "old man's" heart more than to watch kids with guns having a great time with their parents at the range.
Nice, so, when she asks the old man for the title to that springer, what's he going to try to buy/hide to replace it with lol.
