    Rock Island 1911's

I got a line on a LGS that gets in RIA 1911 .45's for 399$ a piece. Going rate on gunbroker is 430-450 not including shipping That is what I paid for my Cimarron 1911 (I love it even though it is made in the Phillipines) and thought I would add another to the .45 collection. Thoughts?

Is it the 5 in GI Issue? They are the better ones.
RIA makes inexpensive firearms, but they are usually not a bargain. All the parts are there if you know how to customize a 1911, but it will be costly and you will have a one 'HEAVY' shooter.

Bud's has (had?) them for $361 shipped. Someone else had them even cheaper recently, but I can't find the ad.

OK RIA has been around for a century? I am quite a fan of the 1911 5" GI issue, and thought it would be a nice shooter.

I picked up a new 5" Tactical a few weeks ago. I changed out the grips and installed an EGW bushing and long nose plunger, looks and feels great!

As far as comparing to a more expensive 1911, I'm sure many folks will have an opinion there. It's my first 1911 so it's hard to say anything other than "now I like 1911's too, I guess".

They were around $325-335 on one of those sites after Thanks Giving. I saw them in a shop today for around $425.
