Just got home from my LGS and look what followed me home. My wife has been getting gift cards for me at my LGS and they finally got one of these bad boys in. It's my first 1911, so feel free to mentor me on the finer points of ownership, care, holsters, etc.
I'm very excited.
Winner winner chicken dinner!
Nice looking firearm .

Keep your booger hook off the bang switch until you want to destroy something .
own it. shoot it. care for it. holster it. sounds like you have the finer points.
Here are some holsters to choose from. The Galcos have free shipping for a bit.

Now that you have a 1911, you'll trade everything else for more. I picked up the same Ruger a couple of months ago and I like it a lot. I have a CrossBreed Supertuck CrossBreed® Holsters for EDC and a Texas Custom Holster TCH Car Holsters in the truck (that's my Colt Commander riding along).
Love the look of the SR 1911, I've wanted one since I held them at gun shows. Have read nothing but positive reviews, will have to get me one someday.
Congrats, looks great. My advice - shoot it, a lot.
The stupidity of some people NEVER ceases to amaze me.
Take it apart, clean it, lube it really well, and then go have fun shooting it.
And those things get lonely. You need to go buy it's brother so it feels better.
Congrats! I've had that Ruger on my mind ever since feeling one up at a LGS.
1911's sure do get lonely and multiply. Ever since I picked up my first one, just about every gun I've looked at since has been one.

Looks very good. Been thinking about a Ruger for my first 1911.
Congrats on your new piece, and welcome to the 1911 club! Now turn and face Ogden, Utah, and genuflect in the direction of Saint John Browning!
Seriously, shoot it lots. Don't sweat the white-glove cleaning thing for now - just lube it when it tells you to (when it starts to choke) and wipe the exterior soot off. Tear it down for a good cleaning somewhere in the 500-1000 round range.
And have someone show you how to reassemble the gun, so you avoid installing the "idiot scratch"!

Idiot Scratch hahaha. If that was the only scratch that I've put on mine during the couple yrs carrying it..........................If it's gonna be carried it's gonna get marked up a bit, I call that 'character'. Ya oughta see my face
