Florida has something like 6% of their population with permits and they're expecting Illinois to have ~3% by the end of the year? I am pleasantly surprised that our numbers are expected to be that high.

It's shall-issue so they'll have to approve all that qualify.

After so long under the boot heel, I wouldn't be surprised in the least to find that number higher by EOY 2014. Illinois citizens are largely solid thinking, outside the big cities. Bummer that the cost is so high, as compared to many other states.

I agree 100% about the costs. Personally, the worst part about the permit process was the 16 hour class. The money wasn't fun to part with, but the 2-day long class was brutal.

Yeah, the cost is why I haven't been able to apply yet. Need to spread things out. Exactly what they intended, I'm sure, when they priced it so high.

So not living in Illinois, I have no idea of the cost? Spill the beans and let us know how much your birth right (2nd amendment) is costing you?

I also read that the IL courts have over ruled Chicago's gun sales ban.

$150 just for the license ($300 for out-of-staters) + fingerprints + 16 hours of training (and any costs associated with that, i.e. ammo)

Yep, you're looking at about $450-$500 total for a resident and another $150 for non-res. Easily the cost of a new gun.

The carry law is far from perfect. I wish it were a lot better, but honestly I'm just so excited that we finally have CCW in Illinois. I think things will get better down the road as we are able to chip away at the off-limits places. Hopefully we can bring down the training time and permit cost as well.

Ahhh the wild west of Illinois. Just last night some poor girl got stabbed in the face and her underarm. If Obummer wants that coverage he can keep it, for his family.
