What ammo was that - light ball, heavy ball, or - ?

My very brief experiment with a M-N with and without the pig-sticker showed a significant shift in POI, but not much change in group size.

Not sure which ammo. Got it at the same show that I bought the rifle. Guy had opened a spam can of mil surp and I bought three of the 20 round packs from him. Getting ready to order 880 more rounds in a few minutes.

The Mosins are great rifles. If you ever get to pick up a 44 carbine get it. They are substantially shorter and just as much fun to shoot. The 7.62x54r is a great round. Try SGAmmo for the 880 round cases.

Strip some insulation off some copper house wiring. The insulation will slip over the front sight pin. You can then trim the length of the insulation to adjust your elevation so you can zero it at 100yd.

Get the front sight drift tool I linked to in my other post. It will allow you to adjust the left-right windage and between that and the insulation trick you will be on target every time.

I have an M-N. I used to could get tuna cans of 440R for $105 out the door. My M-N is too long to fit in my safe so the bolt is kept somewhere else.
Firing a suppressed is on my Bucket List.

I got a M-N octagon receiver back in 2008 from AIM Surplus, paid additional $10 for pick of the litter for $89 delivered to FFL.
Had them send me a spamcan of berdan primed 440 rds for $79..
Got a cheap scout scope and rear site mod kit from Ebay for another $50

Last week I was looking and 7.62x54r was around $90-100 per can.. just looked and most are sold out ?!? Prices now pushing $150

I love the old Ruskie and have thought about sporterizing it and gettting some softtip ammo for deer hunting.
If you are shooting the old surplus ammo, make sure you clean it REALLY good after each time out.. that corrosive stuff will kill your barrel QUICK

Have you shot it at night yet? Nice flame ball they do make

$105 is about average. I just ordered two 440rd cans from Sportsman Guide. $218.96. So it works out to about $109 per shipped. Aim ran less but they are currently out of stock likely due to the tensions over in the east.

Anyone that orders from Sportsmans Guide may want to look into the buyers club. This is my second year as a member. Pays for itself real quick. Plus I get special offers several times a week.

Its only the 2nd order I ever placed with them. Most of the time, they are higher in price than my other suppliers and, other than MN ammo, I roll my own and I don't think SG carries reloading supplies.
