Inherited me a beyootiful rifle :)

Okay, okay, it's old and far from squeaky clean, but it's been inherited down through my family since its beginning.

I sure won't be complaining about the price of my 9mm after this...

I always liked Krags. Let us know how it shoots. You'll get a lot of attention at the range with that.

Ooh! Oooh! What is it? Lee Marvin carried one of those in a movie once, and I loved it then, and I'm re-loving it now.

Thanks guys! I'm real excited to be able to call it mine. I've already scoured the internet learning as much as I can about Krags, haha.

Nice Krag! REMEMBER THE MAINE! Remember yellow journalism and withering Mauser fire too.

The movie was Death Hunt with Charles Bronson. Also, Atticus Finch (Gregory Peck) used a sporterized Krag on a rabid dog in the movie "To Kill a Mockingbird"

It has been sporterized, but the vintage Lyman makes it kewler IMO. Heirlooms aren't generally for sale, so who cares if it's been devalued. I'm sure it's a big improvement over the SA sights.

I'm not sure about service history but it was my great grandfathers, my grandfathers, my fathers, and has now been handed to me. I'm definitely curious as to whether it has service history. I know my great grandfather hunted with it, which is probably where the "sporterizing" came from. It looks like the original stock was cut in to in order to add the pistol grip, and the original sights aren't on it. Granted, it hasn't been modified since my great grandfather - so they way it is now is how it was in the ~1940's (approx.).

That's a pretty cool rifle Bubba. Is that bit on the right side an internal magazine? That Krag is older than anyone here.
