Found Them! After 35 Years! Had to Share!

Back in about '78, I scrimped and saved and bought myself a beautiful 6" Colt Python. Couldn't really afford it, but my living expenses were low, and I really wanted it, bad! I was pretty inexperienced with guns at the time, so to tame the "fierce recoil" of the .357, I bought a set of Pachmayr rubber grips for it. They did really feel nice when shooting the Python, but let's face it, nothing compares to the originals for looks.

I didn't shoot the Python a whole lot over the years, and never carried it, wanting to keep it in pristine condition. Never did get around to putting the original grips back on, though.

Fast forward to 2005, and we were slammed by a vicious monster named Rita. Our house was badly damaged, and a LOT of my possessions were destroyed. I had taken my guns with us when we evacuated, so none of them were damaged, but a lot of my accessories, reloading stuff, etc., were ruined. A while later, I went looking for the original Python grips, and came to the heartbreaking conclusion that they were somewhere amongst the stuff that had been destroyed in the hurricane, and must have been thrown out, along with a lot of other soggy boxes of ruined stuff.

Well, this weekend, I was looking for something-or-other and pulled an old box of holsters, mags, and miscellaneous odds and ends from under a workbench, and in the bottom I found an old Pachmayr grip box, obviously not empty. I opened it up and found my original Python grips, still in absolutely perfect NIB condition! I felt like I'd won the lottery!!!

Someone was smiling down on me this weekend!

Sorry for rambling, but I just had to share!

Apologies. I like my big wheel guns....................................... Smile! Nothing is better than bigger firepower.............. Just saying. OK, you can all kick me now................

Last time I was at the range (with a bunch of LEO= respect/Man Hug), I looked to my left and said to the guy, "My, what a cute 'little' pistol you have................." He did not talk to me or my son the rest of the day.................................. go figure. He could not shoot for crap anyways......... And would not take my Son's advice, who was eating the center out of the 10 ring with a very old .38 survice revolver................. Um, OK. We walked away.

    That's great, congratulations!

The only revolver I've ever fired that I just fell in love with was a Python. Great guns.
