    1,000 yard shooting

First, I had to look up "6mm Dasher". It's a wildcat round based on 6mm BR brass...which I also had to look up. Anyway, this is some amazing shooting.

He missed the bulls eye by about 12 inches. Ten times.

    The guy sucks.

Yeah, I'll bet we'd all like to suck so bad at 1000yds.

    Pretty good, there.

Hard to be so accurate, at great distance. I'm not bad out to 300yds, with the occasional decent grouping at 600yds, but I'd have serious doubts in my ability to put two shots within the same ~8in (diam.) space at 1000yds, even if given an hour to do it.

Wow, that's an amazing set of nerves and great setup.

I have not shot farther than 500yds. My .300 win mag is limited by me.

Yep. But...(don't worry, I've got flameproof undies) if you want to see some real shooting, go watch a 1,000 yard prone high power match. They shoot at a grand... With iron sights!

Saw a number of folks do just that at a 600yd range, with iron sights. Heck, I can't even make out the entire board the target's attached to, at that distance, without a scope. Let alone at 1000yds.

I have made a hit (not a group) at a thousand yards(with iron sights) again the rifle was limited by me. With my now older eyes? Fat chance!

I know PEF was joking, but a buddy of mine is a benchrest shooter and he told me you never want to hit the bullseye when you are shooting for accuracy. It will muck up your POA if you are hitting exactly where you are holding the crosshairs. I can see that guy wanting a clean bullseye to aim at, especially at 1000 yds.
    That's one heckuva group.

Yeah, but what can he do with a pistol at 25 yds .

Seriously though, that is just amazing. Lot of things came together just right for him. Wonder how long it'll be before he stops smiling.

    Teds better.

I'm lucky to hit what I'm aiming at 200 yards.
Problem is, I never practice out to there, as there is no need for me to.

Guy in OP's article is really phenomenal.

I'd be hard-pressed to achieve that group at 100 yards, let alone 1,000.

I shoot F Open every Wed from mid April to mid Nov. The iron sight sling shooters are using the Palma target ie a 10" X ring. The F class shooters have to use a 5" X ring. I'm using a 284 Win w/ 180gr SMK. So far my best score has been a 145 (out of 150). The 1k BR matchs can be score, group, or score and group. For group as long as its on the paper its measured. Since you cant see your hits at 1k you aim for center and let the group fall where it may. Great fun.
