    Sig P228 Deal

So I learned that there's an allegedly unfired Sig P228 in a LGS about an hour and a half away. Asking price is $650. Is this a good price?

Is it roll marked Made in W. Germany on the right side of the slide? Does it have a serial number on the frame, barrel, and slide? Are there proof marks under the slide chin ahead of the frame? What color is the box? Plastic or cardboard?

If its an older SIG 228 from W Germany then yes. I would not purchase a newer sig.

These...are questions I should have asked the guy on the phone the other day!

I'm going to check it out tomorrow night or Saturday, so I'll be sure to find out. I might cry if it's been sold by then.

If it meets the above description I'd snap that up sight unseen. Especially if he says "like new".

    I wouldn't own a SIG-Sauer that wasn't made in Germany.

You guys want to see my new P228? Got it for $650--unfired, in the box. Not a mark on it. Still has the tape around the grip. Some other guy was interested in it but too bad for him.

228s only come in 9mm. If you find a 228 in 40 something's really wrong.

Four years ago I found an unfired W German P228 with original cardboard box, paperwork, mags, & test-fire sheet for 550$ out the door.
I guess these pistols are becoming more difficult to find.

I believe their manufacturing the P228, again under the ID code of M11A1, IIRC. Not sure if it's W. Germany or USA manufactured. The Sig P228 has been in service with multiple branches of the Armed Forces under that Military designation, M11. I believe all their doing is reintroducidng the the P228 as the "M11-A1" in a Nitron finish and
    Desert finish.

These day's though I won't purchase any pistol without a rail. The M11-A1 (P228) does not sport an integral rail. Just a newer finish and the option of a "Desert" finish in Cerakote and one with a threaded barrel for you suppressor happy nerds !!

I've owned a W Germany Sig P228 for years. Great weapon.
