First gun show today... what to expect, what to look for?

Mainly going out of curiosity, hoping to see some militaria. Dad and Grandpa were never into them, so I've never been to a big one.

What should I expect, what should I look for? Any hope of M2 or Greek .30-06 ammo?

Enjoy the show. I was going to the one in Houma but I got sidetracked with house painting . Have fun, you never know what you will find.

Please provide an After-Action. I haven't been to a gun show since forever almost.

Gun shows are fun to go see everything at the same place. Good deals if you're in the market for something. Have fun

Expect to see a lot of junk.
Might find some over priced 22 ammo.
If you need some parts, you might run across them.
If you hand load you might find some components.
If you have a gun you don't use, you might be able to trade it for one you will use.
    Might find a nice knife.
    Beef jerky.

First Gun Show i ever went to was with a buddy in the 80's and was at a VFW Hall in Ammityville, NY.. In fact the entire GUNSHOW was WWII memorabilia. After walking around for an hour I asked him.... OK, Where'd they hide the guns?

Gun shows are a lot of fun; you never know what you will or who you will run into. I have a fondness for older S&W and Colt revolvers and sometimes I find them at cheaper prices. Do a bit of research on anything you are interested in to prevent getting overcharged. Oh and you will see lots of beef jerky.

I've been to a few and never found "deals" on guns that are current offerings of the major manufacturers.

You will find a good selection of used guns that are no longer manufactured, but you need to do your homework to find out if you are getting a "good deal."

Often lots of holsters, which is kind of handy. Ditto with handgun grips. The prices on those have been reasonable.

    Many other odds & ends.

You may find a table of Nazi paraphernalia. I avoid that stuff because I hate that crap.

I feel cheated. The gun shows I got to in Minnesota (Midwest weapons collectors association or somesuch) never have any jerky.

Gunshows are not what they use to be. Don't set your expectations to high

Expect to see muzzles pointing everywhere, over-priced everything, too many people, but if you really dig and can haggle, you might find a good bargain--maybe. Sometime (here) local vendors will have a booth with some fairly good prices. On the rare occasions I go, it's to get hands on with some products.

Around here they are filled with mostly price gougers and beef jerky salesman..

I did meet my LGS at a gun show and have made a great relationship with him
and over the past 3 years or so been driving to his shop for all my purchases and transfers and he gives
me the best deals possible now ..So you can make friends at the gun show but like anything its

I'm not sure what shows these gun show haters are going to, but the shows in Houston and I'm sure College Station are worth going. Always good deals and LOTS of selection.
I guess we should yet again, Thank Our Lucky Stars we live in Texas

Expect a lot of folks talking about guns who have no idea what they are talking about. Expect some ridiculously high prices. Look for folks walking around with guns they are trying to sell, you can sometimes get a great deal. As for ammo, you can always hope.
