And why shoot a live tree?

Nate...thanks for sharing the photos (and it looks like ya'll had fun which is always a good thing) but I agree with Bud....I also have a thing about destroying once healthy things....like a tree, but that's just me. For all I know it's your property where this took place or it was dead already (or dying).....

EDIT: Just realized that because of my hat you can't really see my glasses unless you really look.
My eyeglasses are impact-rate polycarbonate lenses; they just don't wrap around.
For places that may require a step above, I have a pair of ESS ICE 2.4s with a prescription insert. However, they tend to warp my perception of things, and fudge up my sight alignment and sight picture, so if I don't have to wear them, I don't. We never went so far as to use shooting glasses on the range (either M16A2 or M9) in the Corps, so it's not something I consider 100% necessary.
As far as the tree is concerned, he's planning on clearing some of them out behind our target area (we were shooting at targets, not the trees - you can see a target on the left-hand side of the picture), and just hasn't done so yet.

Besides the tree was going for his gun
I was unig a tree to put targets on in my back yard a few years ago. After about an hour and 100 rounds for 9mm and 38's I went inside to take a break. As I'm washing my hands in the sink and looking out the window...the tree fell......had to get the chainsaw out and cut it up(had some good firewood the next year though)......so treehuggars beware....../Monty Python voice on/"I'm a lumberjack, yes I am......"

Years ago the family owned a logging and timber company. We used chainsaws to fell trees.
