It has Begun Project #2 Updated 1-21-07 and Ended

As it says Project #2 Started Working on it tonight

I bought this 2 years ago i believe it was

It is a Springfield Armory Trophy Match A good Tight Gun

The Gun shop had it for a long time and no one was buying and when they removed the Red dot which is a nice Burris model they found out they had drilled the slide

Well with the style of mount for the red dot I'm not sure how they thought it was supposed to be mounted:rolleyes:

So i picked it up for what they had into it .. I saw project

After shooting with the red dot i decided i didn't like it and took it off here is the pic from a few mins ago they way it has been the last year and half

The gun shoots excellent and has such aggressive checkering not only on the frame but the grips that i was ready to slap a ambi safety into it and carry it.

Then it Fell apart

So now i will start fitting the parts i have

This might be a couple month project as I'm not sure if i will replace the trigger components or not

After i fit the new barrel i will shoot it to decide only other thing i will add for now is a AMbi Safety

So what let go then? Looks like a well used piece but, obviously something let go. Be an interesting project - sorta reminds me of a Randall a buddy had in bits, which I gradually reassembled - all that needs finished on it is re-staking the plunger housing.

Nothing let go I tore it down I just prefer it fell apart..lol

I cant say how much it has been shot few hundred rounds from me its still very tight course not tight like a baer but tight

I managed to get the New trigger fitted tonight will nab a pic later After a hour its in

I tell ya a nice Hand fitted Trigger really makes the trigger pull feel different

Well things have went Downhill and this project has ended

As Far as it go is the new Trigger for now and will get a Ambi another time the new Barrel is out

Also Got a New Sear spring

Now for why The project was stopped

After getting the barrel preped which i will post in another thread I noticed thing weren't fitting like they should

Now i know you have to file etc etc but things were way out of whack

So i broke out the measureing tools and found out the lug height on the Barrel is .057 front lug and .055 second lug

this is fine and should lock up great but wont lock up at all hood is just right size

Well really time to measure where to start but Measure the Orginal Barrel

WEll this is weird the front lug is .044 and the second .040 not good undersized

Measure out size and it is pretty close to barrel

Now this gun locks up tight and shoots excellent one of the best shooters

so after 2 hours of measureing and visiting the Jerry K manual and the Orginal blueprints i break out a second Springfield and wow it is undersize also but not as much This guns is uber tight also barrel to slide fit is tighter than trophy match Accuracy is on par probley nto as good becuase it doesnt have the cool adj sights..


3rd Springfield and undersized alos according to blueprints accuracy is less with this gun but it isn't tight


So long story long i would have to file down the locking lugs on the barrel to at least .044 to start fitting and you just dont do this unless you have to its Bad juju so i decided to fit it to the gun i bought to fit the barrel to the first place ..
