I got temporarily assigned to night shift this weekend. Was carrying my PT145 when I went to work and since I can't carry inside the building I left it in the console of my pickup. Got off at 7:00 this morning and before I left I slid the gun back into its holster.
A chunk of metal sitting in a vehicle in 9 degree weather is cold, let me tell ya now! The love handle on my right side was cold all the way home!
I understand about the cold metal. Yesterday, the daughter and I took the grandtwins:aargh4: :aargh4: to get their 6 month shots. Had to leave the revolver in the car cause the gunbuster sign on the hospital looked ssssssssoooooooooooooooooooo BIG.:gah: Looked like a billboard, but I know it was AG regulation size. Twins got their shots, and then I had to deal with miserable kids and a gun that had been frozen. Man, was that piece of metal cold.
Now that may be an idea; a 12 volt heated gun rug. slip the gun in, plug it into the cigarette lighter (or to be PC, "axillary outlet") and presto! Warm gun!
