Anyone know what this weapon is?

Foxnews has this mystery weapon up on their website, so I thought I would add a link to it from here and see if anyone around here knows what it is since we have a pretty knowledgeable group when it comes to weaponry. It looks like a homemade one of a kind deal to me but then again, I'm no expert on explosive launching weapons.

It somewhat has the appearance of a compressed air launcher for grenade or similar.
Could be too - looking at it with cynic's eyes - it is all camo painted PVC pipe and wood - to ''look'' like something!!!

I call BS... Maybe.. :)
Does seem odd that the sight is rotated only 90 degrees from the grip. Not that you couldn't use it but it would rule out all Lefty's. ....

Its a potato launcher.
Some grunt built it to entertain himself over there in the sand. Did a good job too.
He probably he took pictures of it with some confinscated weapons just for a joke and now its got the news media in an uproar because some yahoo that thinks its a secret weapon...

Looks like a fabricated training device. If it didn't have the optics I'd have said a kids toy. The thing below it looks like an RPG launcher though, but there isn't enough of it showing to be 100% sure.

I'm with the potato gun crowd. If it were real, it'd have to be a recoiless rifle or something along those lines. Besides... having the buttstock that close to the rear is just asking for damage to your head.

It's pretty ugly.

0.02, I don't know what kind of beer bongs you have used, but here at college they mostly consist of a funnel and piece of plastic tubing.
Like I said before, I think its definately homemade, and the guesses of spud gun are prolly pretty cloe, I don't have the answer, I'm not sure anyone does, just tryin to see what other people think.

I'm fairly sure the photo is not fake, the gun may be, but the photo is not, Yon is the person who took the photo, and hes no faker.
But you can see at the bottom there is three large holes, which would be just about right for someone to be able to get a long screw driver in and attach it to the tube part. I would definitely say fake, since most guns would not be constructed that way.
