Those are neutered 10rnd mags from the old AWB (full cap 9mm USPc mags hold 13 rounds). That's why they're so cheap. No need to stock up on those.

    Hahahahahahaha!!!!

I just ordered 10 20-round M14/M1A magazines from 44mag.com for $230 (including 3 day shipping). These are the ones that are being used currently by the military.

I bet McCarthy would be pissed.

How many magazines is "enough", per firearm, do you suppose?

    Four minimum.
One in the gun and one on the belt, two spares.

    Maximum? No idea.

Well, I'd say it depends on caliber and magazine capacity.

In real life, you'll never "need" more than 3 magazines-say two for shooting through and 1 as back up.

But extra magazines add so much firepower for how cheap and small and light they are.

Did I go overboard by buying 10 magazines?

The absolute minimum I'd go with for a weapon is two (mag related feeding problems are the most common and without another mag there's no way to diagnose them). For a carry pistol, I'd want the number of mags I'll be carrying (currently 3 for me, one in the gun and two on the belt) plus two extras. That lets me practice mag changes and clearing type 3 malfunctions during dry fire without unloading any of my carry mags.

I agree with ya Rob. In fact, I have a great many spare parts stashed away, "just in case"

I have 4-8 mags for all my pistols, 6-20rnd mags, 3-30rnd mags and 1-75rnd drum between 2 AK's. I will pick up more as I can afford them.

And if a new AWB comes through, w/NO grandfathering on mags.....?

I seriously looked at this a few nights ago. 4-5 10 rounders are good for "compliant" range sessions, and general practice. $10 each......well worth it, IMHO. As far as a "functional battery"- 1 dozen mags per handgun, 2 doz/long gun. Shotties, you should have 4 extra mag springs, on hand. I keep mine in a poster-mailing tube.

H.R. 1022, the Assault Weapons Ban and Law Enforcement Protection Act of 2007 (what balls to call it that), has a grandfather provision. I don't know how to read half this legal ****, but here it is:

    SEC. 4. GRANDFATHER PROVISION.

Section 922(v)(2) of title 18, United States Code, as added by section 2(a) of this Act, is amended--

    (1) by inserting `(A)' after `(2)'; and

    (2) by adding after and below the end the following:

`(B) Paragraph (1) shall not apply to any firearm the possession or transfer of which would (but for this subparagraph) be unlawful by reason of this subsection, and which is otherwise lawfully possessed on the date of the enactment of this subparagraph.'.

At least I just bought 10 20-round M14 mags for $230 including shipping. What bloody ******** I can't transfer them if this bill goes through!

I know, but GW is no friend of ours, so if Pelosi, Feinstein, et al, wanted to go to town, this would be the time to do it.

Yep. How about the who voted for GW because of his strong "family values?" Apparently he doesn't think protecting your family with whatever weapons you feel are appropriate is a priority.
