It's why the term "paranoia" is used on occasion to describe the level of thought and preparedness many practice, here. IMO, that is the clearest indication some don't get it but, thankfully, that's a slim minority.
For me: I'm in a relatively highly-populated area; I live within 2mi of a well-traveled highway that carries hazardous materials all the time; the wind patterns in my area put me in direct line for any number of high-tech disasters in any direction (ie, release of chemical gas/agents that would kill tens of thousands if released on a grand scale). Believe me, it's clear.
