    Lesson learned.

Rob72: Very generous offer, thank you! I can get hold of an air brush, what paint are using?

    1) You MUST let it cure, or heat it after application.
    2) You can clean up with B-12 Chemtool, instead of spending a bit more for the Lauer solution.

If you buy the paint and hardener, and follow the instructions, it will turn out nicely. Best of all, you can apply it over the park and anodizing on the whole rifle for a good match, and extra layer of protection. Obviously, you can get some wild colors, but I'm a plain "Evil Black Rifle" kinda guy....

FYI- if the anodizing didn't completely cover, you can easily have some oxidation problems, down the road. I would re-coat it myself, or send it back. Applying lube is a temporary, cosmetic, fix.

I suspect the anodizing is fine, and the gun was just wiped down with a light colored cloth or paper towel yielding the blotchiness.

Blame it on Sixto - now that is a viable plan.

Get the finish done right, even wear all over looks much better. Then, when you get that first scratch, you can really howl.
