New Bank - Security Policy - No gun for Guard

Regions Bank bought out AmSouth - Regions sold off AmSouth to RBC Centura.

Same guy has been their Security Guard for several years. When I'm not in a hurry and have to go inside I stop and say hi & how's it going small chat for a couple min's.

A couple day's ago I had to go inside - stopped on the way out to chat with him and noticed - no gun. I asked him what happened to his "little buddy" and he said - new bank (RBC Centura) - new policy - no guns.

We both felt the same about it as I'm sure you folks will too.

I haven't seen a bank guard in years around here. Most rely on video cameras. I pack when I go to the bank, none of the ones I use are posted. I wouldn't bank there is they were.

Unarmed 'guard'??? What purpose does he now serve - designated hostage, felon greeter, or just most likely to get shot during a robbery???

Nice of the bank to provide someone to help bag the money and carry it out for the criminals.

I would carry anyway in an ankle holster.. Its worth loosing my job over if im still alive to be jobless. Banks around here rely on cameras and silent alarms. No armed guard.. =( Would hate to be a bank teller and have my life depend on the silent alarms cry for help.
    I carry because I care.

Our two banks haven't had security guards in years. It's all done by camera. I also carry when in the bank . there are no signs that prohibit me from doing so.

Our bank was sold to RBC I pulled out because it was no longer a US bank! But we do not have guards guns or not.

No guns = likely insufficient security = something other than a bank = no money from me. Not worth it.

My mom works at a locally-posted bank which relies on cameras. The only problem is that the looped tape quality is so bad and both the tapes and equipment are decades old that you can't make out any features.

They let Mom take home a video of a crime to see if she could recognize the customer and the images on the worn tape were grainly and indistinguishable.
It's not about the caliber you carry, it's about how you USE it.

I can't remember ever reading about a robery that was stopped by a bank guard. The only two local banks in my area that still have them use them as door greeters - too old to prevent a crime, but all the customers seem to enjoy them, especially the little blue haired ladies.
