Does it count if the LIVE TOW round hit an APC 800yds down range that had a steer inside that ummmm wandered onto the range? I think of that shot everytime I have a shredded beef burrito.

Other than that, it's got to be an M1 Abrams Main Gun round into an old BMP from Gulf War ' 91 while the tank was doing over 30mph and airborne over a small hill. Fired at the apex with a SABOT and scored a hit at 1200 meters.

Reminds me of the training film they showed us at Ft Knox of an old tank on a range with a goat in the turret. The hit from a SABOT round was filmed in slow motion. The round went in one side and out the other closely followed by the goat. It squirted him right out the exit hole.

NOW imagine what that round would do to the crew of an enemy tank which is the point of the film. And eeeek is right!

Killer Tomato. That's a 15 foot to a side inflatable orange cube that is a waterborne naval gunnery target.
I don't shoot at cars, reefers, or the other stuff due to pack it in, pack it out. I will state that a great and challenging target is 22 and animal crackers....biodegrable.
I will confess to a stupid act 20 some years ago, while young and dumb, that of placing model railroad buildings on the bottom of a wash, added glass bottle filled with gas and topped by a lit rag, then walking towards with two Ruger 10/22s, one under each arm, and 50 round teardrops in each. Strafing run on the oil refinery, you see....I am very lucky I didn't kill myself back then!

I remember that film with the sabot round.

I was in Bradleys not M1's so most of our fun was had with the 25mm and TOW's. I did see a cow after it was hit by a 105, but not a 120(not that the cow would have cared). For the record, 25mm TP rounds will also make a heck of a wreck out of a cow also. Cattle constantly wandered into the live fire areas on Ft. Hood(Brown Creek in particular). With the old night sights, a walking cow looked just like a heated moving target at night.
People sleep peacefully in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to violence on their behalf.

OTOH, a deer wandered out on a tank range at Ft Huachuca, when the 8 to the 40th was still there, and a buddy of mine was a driver.. They were doing the coupla 50s on thier M60A5s, and totally ignoring shouts from the CO, everyone fired at this poor deer. Thousands of rounds were fired, and that incredibly lucky animal made it from one side to the other without being hit, though last thing I heard, he is STILL running.
The offending members of the unit were reminded BY thier CO thatthe fact that they missed meant there was no way they would pass the table, and many hours of remedial ensued....oops.

Dang! This thread turned into an arms race in a hurry! Thank you for your service to the military folks.

In the rimfire category, when I was a kid I filled a milk carton with water and stuck it in the freezer. After school the next day I peeled the carton off and disassembled the ice block with my trusty .22. Ice chips everywhere with no mess to clean up. Low budget fun.

I remember the day I was shooting(controlling) 2 quad 40mm mounts at a full size aircraft coming at us. Caught him in a turn and it was one aircraft in pieces. Folks were shooting 5" and 40's at him but I was the one on target, it was good!!!
