New Toy - Groundhogs and Squirrels Beware

A Ruger Mk III hunter. Picked it up today, and have already put 100 rds of PMC Zapper through it. My camera died before I could get pictures of the targets (it's charging now so I'll post some later), but after a magazine to warm up to it, I was holding 1/2 inch groups at 25 yds. I am thinking about installing a Volquartsen accurizing kit, among other things it will change the trigger pull from the factory 3.5lbs to 2.25 lbs. I am resisting the urge to put a red dot or scope on this thing, it is just too pretty without it.

I was surprised at how easy it came to point, and how easy it was to maintain it on target. I'm not crazy about the loaded chamber indicator, but I have been after Ruger to relocate the mag release for a long time. The second pic shows the things that make it a Mk III.

Beautiful... one of these Days I need to get me a .22 pistol to shoot for cheaper fun at the range, .40 gets expensive to play with.

Nice gun. Try out a red dot. I love mine even though it's bulky.

I've got a nice stainless ProPoint PDP4 that would look nice on it, but I am not sure how much faster it would allow me to get it on target. The Hi-Viz front sight really helps. A lot. It's a natural pointer and dead on at 25yds right out of the box.

Might I ask what the price range for that is? I too need to get a .22 plinker....damn .45 is pricey at the range, and I need to pick off a few ground hogs that have invaded my property....

    Very nice!

You know, every time I see a nice Ruger like that I can't help but think of all the times I've seen comments about that Glock grip angle not being right. Yet here's one of the finest .22 target/hunting guns out there and just look at that grip angle. I'm surprise anyone could shoot it - LOL.

I gave $450 for it out the door.

I think I am going to put a scope, not a red dot, on it. Anyone got a good suggestion for a scope? I'm thinking 2x20, but I'm not dead set on it. I'd like it to be stainless to go with the pistol. Anyone got one for sale at a decent price?

    LOL!

And I'm one of those guys who can't shoot a Glock worth a darn because of the grip. But this is just there. Can't explain it, cause I'm a 1911 guy, and nothing works better for me.
