    Are FN handguns any good?

Hey guys, I'm seeing some FN handguns show up at some lgs. I have heard of the brand, but are they up there with Glock or S&W as far as quality is concerned? One store had a FNX hammer fired gun in stock, and the other store had a couple FNS striker fired guns. One is the compact version the other is the full size. I really like the compact, he had it priced for $499.

yes they are a reputable manufacturer. I have no personal experience with them but if you get one you're not getting some sort of Saturday nigh special.

Fabrique Nationale d'Herstal (FN) has been around since 1889. FN is a subsidiary of the Belgian Herstal Group, which also owns U.S. Repeating Arms (Winchester) and Browning Arms Company. FN makes lots of military arms used worldwide. They make high quality arms for civilians, but don't advertise as much as other companies.

The one that really stood out was the FNS 9c. I was looking at the Glock 17 and I noticed the FN on the bottom shelf. They were both priced for $499. I know the FN compact hasn't been on the market very long. I took a look at the case and the test fire pouch said it was tested early 2015. I love the look, feel, fit and finish of the FN.

The only FN weapons I have a lot of time and experience with are huge, heavy, and stupid reliable. Hate carrying them, but love shooting them and trust my life to them. But then that's the M240.

One of the guys that works for me has an FNS that he shoots the snot out of and sings its praises from the rooftops. Don't think you can go wrong with one.

FN weapons are top quality and crazy reliable. Their handguns are as good as Glock and S&W, in my opinion.

Yes and FN loves the USA market ..See the 5.7 and the whole mess with the first and second gen ps90 never mind the M249 they are making ..

They are good well made guns ..

Really I think they are so cheep for the the FN9 is they were late to the market and to most were about the same as ever other polymor gun out there

They are better than good, they are great. I have owned a few FN guns and you get a lot for your money and it is one of the few brands of guns that has never once failed to fire when I pulled the trigger. FN mostly makes big boy guns for elite military but has been pushing their civilian guns in the last few years. The FNX .45 holds 17 +1 rounds of .45 ACP, the largest capacity .45 handgun at a price that is very reasonable. Their FNX (external hammer) and FNS (striker fired) handguns are as good as you can get for the price. In fact, I call them the poor man's HK due to their reliability and quality but without the high price of my HK's.

I would rate the hammer fired FN far superior to any Glock product.

Sure wish they made an FNX-Tactical in 10 mm.
