What Are You Going to Do about Gun Violence?
Keep Up the Pressure: Our Leaders Need to Do More than Offer Condolences
We Can Do Something about Gun Violence.
See Brady in the News.
Dear xxxx,
I'm charged up after my appearance with Jim on CBS's Face the Nation Sunday morning. And I'm even more excited that so many of you have taken action in the wake of last week's tragic shootings at Virginia Tech.
More than 50,000 calls and emails have been made to our elected leaders to ask them "What are YOU going to do about gun violence," including thousands to President Bush, Speaker Pelosi, and Majority Leader Reid.
This pressure is absolutely critical if we don't want our leaders to retreat and do nothing after offering condolences.
So thank you! But we need to keep that momentum going. Please support our efforts today.
Why do we have to keep the pressure on? Because every day in America, 32 people are murdered by guns. The same number that was killed last Monday.
A supporter last week had the great idea of asking her friends to donate $32 to the Brady Campaign. So we are asking you to do the same now. Please give $32 today.
Despite the daily toll of gun deaths, Congress has done nothing. And to help your Brady Campaign keep the heat on Congress, we are asking you for your financial support right now.
As a nation, we can do better. And to keep the dialogue going and the momentum building to find a solution, please keep asking the question "What are YOU going to do about gun violence in America?"
Sincerely,
Sarah Brady, Chair
Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence
Want to do something about the Brady Bunch? Then answer their call for $$$. Dig deep in your pockets and give them...a penny. This will cost them more to process than they'll get. Who's ready to pony up a little dough for the cause?
This is the first time I've tried to use the "Insert Link" icon, so I hope it works right. If not, there is a "tinyurl" link directly below for the same page.

Error: The amount specified is less than the specified minimum donation amount of $5.00.
I am guessing they saw that one coming

Yeah I sent them a note back asking for their data proving 32 people are killed everyday by guns....then I asked them to exclude people killed during the commission of a crime....or killed by another criminal.
I am waiting anxiously for their response

How about taking that $5.00 and giving it to the NRA?

Here is another idea. Send them a card. I don't care what kind, just a blank card will do. They have to open each one to see if there is money inside. Imagine how much we can tie them up opening empty cards. It would have to cost them a bundle of time and money to acomplish this.

I didn't look at their site but I can't imagine they have a street address that they publicize, far too dangerous in my opinion.

I am saying that it would be dangerous for them, although we here are all sane and reasonable there is always a chance that a gun advocate takes sufficient offense that he attacks them or their staff, for that reason I don't expect that they publicize their address.
It's a fact of life that when you have what can be percieved as extreme socio-political views you tend to get unprecedented levels of threats, i.e. abortion clinics.

That may be true, I didn't check their sight for an address. Attaching to their site would be more than I could bear. I do send a Christmas card to the ACLU every year for the same reason. I make sure it is a very religious one he,he,he.

This is funny, because down here, The Palm Beach Post's "political cartoonist," Don Wright (he's horribly bad) takes every opportunity to demonize gun owners as moronic, reactionary buffoons with drooling lips and huge guts. He has, several times in the past, used his cartoon to advocate for the killing of gun owners. One of them, (I clipped it and have it somewhere) shows what we have to presume is an ANTI-gunner pointing a gun at the reader. The text says something about how if the anti-gun rational good people can't manage to change the minds of gun owners about "reasonable" gun laws, "We take them out!" (So it shows an anti-gunner using a gun to kill pro-gunners who won't see it their way.)
Who's dangerous to whom?

Haha, can you scan that and PM it to me? That's deliciously ironic. I have to see it!

A person is justified in the use of deadly force, if such person reasonably believes deadly force is necessary to prevent imminent death or great bodily harm to such person or a third person.
