    Got carry ammo reloaded!

Ok ......... but I did get down this evening to some much overdue reloading ... top of list was the 45-70 for my BFR .... the stuff is too pricey to buy and also is only available as ''whimp'' loads!

The stuff looked so nice just sittin there it seemed to merit a pic These are well over medium loads (approx 1550 ft lbs) ..... and throw a 405 grain chunk of lead. Only about 85 rounds tho looks more ... and the cases had no cleanup - too lazy!

9mm in front to give some scale to those less familiar ...... and it's amazing that the cartridge dates back into the later 1800's, when of course it was a BP load.

    Ordered another 500 Laser-cast bullets today - $80 - ouch!

Heck of casing there P95. Reloading sure is rewarding too. All those shiny cartridges waiting to be fired.

A .45-70 is on my very long list of things to buy, although I think I would prefer it in a rifle.

So, if that's for back-up ankle carry, what the heck is your primary? Because you know that requires an even bigger round.

    Primary? 50 BMG of course

Big cals sure do merit reloading Rocky - only way to go really. I have some .454 stuff to do soon too - at a buck a pop from Hornady - it's pricey!

I posted before a mini vid clip of BFR in action which some folks might enjoy - very compressed but shows a buddy shooting first - bit stiff in arms so recoil comes back quite hard. I then shoot with my very exaggerated ''lift'' which lets gun ride up and so reduces what comes back into arms a bit.

Must say I'd like to try a shot or two but I think that'd do just fine

    Chris,

You know what I'm thinking when I see all those 45-70 rounds?

I'm thinking more brass to be cut down for my .475 Linebaugh.

    Would that work?

I use Starline brass for these and reckon it is A1.... very nice to work with.

    Yep. Like a charm.

I use cut down Winchester 45-70 brass for the .475. I picked up about 500 spent cases at a yard sale a few years back, threw out the junk, and cut down about 100 cases.
