What to take - to the range

Tomorrow I am expecting a visit from Ibex, who is over here from Germany to check out various areas prior to eventually coming to settle.

It goes without saying - a range session is a must but heck - can't think what to take! Can't take em all. I will probably let him choose in the end but want him to sample as much as possible.

I guess, coupla semi's, coupla revo's and a long arm or two maybe. Got some 38 spl loaded up and some .357, and plenty of 9mm, so - got ammo anyways.

Looks fine so - hopefully report back with a short synopsis after the event. Might even get him to post!

I think you have it all planned out. As you suggested take a good mix of semi's and revo's and vary the caliber too.

Long guns are always fun too. Maybe an evil black rifle if you have one.

Yeah, I'm having fun with my new AR. I just wish ammo was cheaper and more accessible. I decided to get one while I still can.

    Well, let's see...

From what all I see on your site, for a memorable trip for them, I would suggest, first and foremost (I'm a little prejudiced, sorry), either the L1 or the Imbel.

Then, for a touch of America, the Ruger No.1 (I'd love to shoot a 45/70 even if it didn't give the large puff of white smoke), and a .357 lever-action/revolver combo maybe?

Along those same-caliber lines maybe the Camp Carbine and the BHP?

Then maybe the NAA, just for fun.

How do you like that mount on your Super Blackhawk BTW? I have a standard Blackhawk in 45LC with oversized grips that is crying for a scope.

Man, you have a nice collection.

What? No 1911? Hey this is supposed to be an American experience right?

Muzz ........ well it works altho not over pretty. It's just a B-Square and was easy to fit. Seems to stay put. That gun sees less action these days because of the Redhawk getting the lion's share with 44 mag - I think Mr FAL with have to come along, plus maybe AK and CX4 Storm - and then some handguns.

He us due around midday so - guess we'll decide then. Beautiful day - spring in PA is so pretty.

Definitely take a 1911 and an AR. And a Single Action Army style revolver as well, so they can have the cowboy experience.

I took my Scottish friend to the range the last time he was over here. He really enjoyed the AR and the Uzi. His favorite handgun was my Colt Trooper MK III 6". It was a great time and we went through MANY rounds.

    Have fun!

I'm thinking of things like ear-muffs and eye-glasses; Coke and Marlboro's.

Earplugs combined with muffs; protective goggles, absolutely.

Coke? Nope. I'd bring a cooler of Pepsi and water. And I'd sure skip the smokes. (I'd be more likely to bring a pack of incense! )

I think that if you have the cases and spaces for them, three semis, two revolvers, and two rifles would do the trick, unless you're planning to spend 8 hours there (and the attendant ammo); in that case, I'd double up the rifles and bring four semis and three revolvers.

Well - write up to follow when I find time tomorrow ........ we took -

SIG 228, SIG 220, 1911 Systema, Rohrbaugh R9, NAA Mini, Smith M-27, M85 snubby, and the infamous BFR!! Plus - Marlin 60 for some honest-to-goodness plinking ... and the FAL, which it turned out (having forgotten my spotting scope!) was shooting high. Need to rezero that PDQ!

As I shall report when I get to it - our Ibex is all but a natural!!! When he was in WA state he rented a G19 and fired off 100 rounds at a range - and liked it fine .. so he was already initiated! No .22 handguns ... straight into centerfire.

The smile on his face as he fired a nice group with the 228 said it all .... that gun or similar now of course - will be on his shopping list eventually. There was also a smile (of sorts) as the BFR barked loud

Anyways - great time, amazingly hot but most successful.
