Well, he didn't remove himself from the gene pool, so no Darwin award.

What I really want to know is where he got .223 so cheap that it would turn a profit for 1.70 for a pound of brass.

I call BS . even locked in a vice a round wont propel the bullet with enough force to penetrate a half inch , much less after a ricochet such as the story described . sorry folks , brass shrapnel i will believe , but the rest is bs . For a round to propel the heavy part ( the bullet ) it must be contained on all sides , other than that the brass just blows out and you get no velocity to speak of .

And We All Wonder........How Far Does the Nut Fall?

Well ****, just realized this was posted in the Off Topic.

I think this is another win for the "No Child Left Behind". Seems like this family has a real winner on their hands.

I do not understand how he is getting these .223 rounds. They would cost more than what he can sell them for.

Teen Hurt Whacking Bullets With Hammer
    May 14, 2007 - 4:42pm

LAKE LUZERNE, N.Y. (AP) - A teenager who put bullets in a vise and whacked them with a hammer to empty the brass shell casings was wounded in the abdomen by approximately the 100th bullet he hit, according to Warren County deputies.

Damion M. Mosher, 18, had been discharging .223-caliber rounds, placing them in a steel vise, putting a screwdriver on the primer, and striking the screwdriver with the hammer, deputies said.

Deputies were called to his home in Lake Luzerne shortly after 5 p.m. Saturday when one bullet went about a half-inch into his abdomen. He was treated at Glens Falls Hospital and was released. No charges were filed.

Mosher told authorities he was trying to empty the rounds to collect the brass casings for scrap.

Sheriff Larry Cleveland said about 100 other rounds that Mosher hit had "fizzled," but one was somehow sent with more force. It was unclear if the bullet ricocheted or hit him directly.

An employee of Capitol Scrap Co. in Albany said Monday the business pays $1.70 a pound for scrap brass shell casings.

Cleveland said Mosher's shells amounted to just a few pounds.

Lake Luzerne, at the southeastern edge of the Adirondacks, is 45 miles north of Albany.

Boys will be boys... when I was about 11 my friend and I pressed some of his Dad's shotgun shells into the mud and shot the primers with a pellet gun from the second story of his garage.

It was pretty fun until one of the empty shells came whizzing back up past him when it was his turn to shoot. We stopped after that.

    I know, I know. Moronic.

What a waist of good ammo. He probly could have got more for the ammo then he would have made selling the brass.
