New Gunsmith - Revolver Armorer - Suffolk, VA

I just picked up a new customized S&W 642 at the Richmond, VA gunshow from a dealer called Revolver Armorer based out of Suffolk, VA. Matt, the owner is a Coast Guard Reserve Senior Chief who has worked for several different smiths. He and his wife just opened the business in April of this year.

I originally inquired about an auction for a bone stock 642 he had on gunbroker for $400 since no dealers in my area had them for less than $500. He and I talked on the phone and he offered me this for $450

It is brand new; action has been resprung, lockwork polished, cylinder chambers have been polished and chamfered and it has been re-gripped with Hogue Rosewood Laminates. It has the smoothest action I have ever felt on a DAO carry revolver. It's not the lightest action since it is a carry gun, but he does all kinds of custom work from SAs to DAs, and from target guns to carry guns. He had a really nice BFR 45-70 at the show for $899.00.

He gave me a basic price list of his services

    Bead blast finish $65
    Round and polish trigger $35
    Action job $50
    Gold filled lettering $25
    Polish cylinders $25
    Chamfer cylinders $25
Fit & exchange grip $5 plus cost of grip

So I thought I'd just pass this on by way of information and to help give him a leg up "so to speak"

It looks good... I'll be interested in reading the full report once it makes a trip or two to the range.

He gave you a hell of a deal too!
