    Les Baer To Illinois: Adios

As reported in the July/August issue of American Handgunner magazine, Les Baer is moving his entire operation to gun-friendly Iowa by the end of the year.

Les says he's fed up with Illinois' gun laws and business climate.

    10 miles

I looked up Les Baer's location of Hillsdale, Illinois on the map, and it is only 10 miles east of the Mississippi River, the boundary between Illinois and Iowa. So he won't have to move very far, and probably won't even lose any employees in the move.

It is a smart move for anyone connected with guns to leave Illinois, which is a most unfriendly place for gun owners and manufacturers.

Good move. I had a couple of chances to attend law schools in IL, but turned them down. I told them why too.

Of course they were probably happy, since they don't want any gun nuts in their state.

    Good news

Good to hear. Sorry that a state is controlled by those who hate the 2nd Amendment. I have family in southern Illinois. I wish they would move too.

Illinois has become, at least insofar as the 2A is concerned, a state populated by people who forget who truly run the state. It's a bad combination: a population that doens't understand its own rights and power; and a political establishment that seeks to exploit that.

Good for Baer. May he find continued success across the water.

I'm hoping that Springfield follows suit. Evidently there is a stupid bill in the IL legislature that forbids the sale of any mag over 10 rds.

Its a shame IL has to be like that.
I guess they are near the top of the list of Anti-gun states.

WASH DC(I know not a state)
    CA
    MD
    IL
    NJ
    MA

And to think, that's where A. Lincoln is from.

Oh well, IL looses out. If I owned ANY kind of business, I rather the tax money from it goes to a pro-gun state government.

I don't blame them. I plan my vacations around Illinois. Literally "around." I will drive an extra 300 miles to avoid going through there.

Yeah, the first time I drove across county, I stopped at some truck stop outside of Chicago to get a new CB antenna for my Xterra.

My God, it looked like I was back in West Baltimore.
Both cities looked like bombed out Kosovo.

LeClaire, IA, apparently. NRA ILA has a brief write-up as well.

Unfortunately Illinois should really be called the state of Chicago. I live just across the river and have family in IL and find my self in southern IL quite a bit.

If not for their screwed up politics it would be a place I could see myself living. The parts of Illinois I am familiar with are quite rural and have a very "down home" kind of feel. Its hard to believe that those folks would support the kind of infringement on their rights. In reality they don't. Rural IL is just plain out muscled by the Chicago metropolitan political machine that pretty much runs the state.

Its ironic that I actually took my ccw qualification for Missouri's ccw at John Ross's property located in IL. It felt strange when I drove out there to have to lock up my guns like I was transporting nuclear waste.

Would not step foot into that state or any of the other 'anti' states...I don't like crowded blue places anyway...
