I shot my first "Cowboy Action Shooting" match yesterday and had a blast! I had to borrow the leather gear, but had the four guns required. I knew that I would be slow so I just concentrated on accuracy.
The accuracy paid off. I was awarded a "Clean Shoot" pin. I borrowed gear from a Multi-Time State Champ and he and many others were there to give me encouragement. I was truly impressed with the helpfulness and attitude of all the contestants.
I will be back soon to shoot another Cowboy Match. In some ways it's good training because it's not static and forces you to think while shooting, as well as counting your shots.
I had never even seen a "Cowboy Match" before, and jumped in with both feet. I'm glad I did. Now I've got to order some holsters and a shotgun ammo belt.

Too cool! Take some pictures--I'd like to see that.
My wife has been Cowboy Action Shooting for about a year and just has a blast. Saving my pennys up so i can get the gear and start myself.

Looks like fun.
I changed your thread title to add action. The other way I wasn't sure if a cowboy had been shot or had done some shooting.

I've watched them shoot at my local range. They have a great time! I may save up for some guns for it.
