Trip to the range for Fathers Day

How many of you started off your Fathers Day with a trip to the range? I did My wife had to work today so I grabbed my new XD45 compact and a couple of boxes of ammo and off I went. I have been wanting to function check some carry ammo so today seemed like a perfect time to do it. Ran a box of Winchester Ranger and a box of Federal Tactical Bonded +P through the XD. The Ranger performed flawlessly. I had the slide lock back half way through a magazine of the Federal. I am sure I hit the slide lock on that one. I adjusted my grip a little and not another problem. I came home, jumped on the motorcycle and rode over to visit my Dad. Took a nice long ride home. Spoke with the Daughter on the phone during a break in the ride. All and all a great day. I hope all of the Fathers out there had a great and memorable day.

My 3 sons and 1 adopted son took me to the range for some trap shooting, stopped at the Dairy Queen on the way home then we all got ready and went to dinner with all the girls and some pitchers of Margaritas. I'm not sure it gets much better than that.

They generally stop doing that after a while, then start again when they get to college...

Always good to hear of a good day including range ....... it was too hot hear for me to try range stuff - but did bike out with my wife to make (good) use of a nice offer at Pizza Hut - present the coupon from newspaper and Dad's had free buffet ..... so we both dined out well for $8 (and a tip). Not bad.

Must try range very soon tho - several loads in development and gotta check em out.

Took dad out to lunch to a neat lunch counter that's been around since 1943 then took him to the range for a few rounds yesterday.

It's been beautuiful in this part of OH for quite some time, so the indoor range was empty 'cept for us.
It's not about the caliber you carry, it's about how you USE it.

It was nasty hot here to day. So I was out at the range just after sunrise. Made it much easier to take.

Wise move Mike - trouble I have with the early deal is twofold.

First I have a wierd body clock and finish the day late - also need a ton of sleep and so late up compared to many folks.

Second - both ranges I use locally have folks living near enough by that I'd feel a tad cruel letting rip ultra early - try to keep earliest to 9 am if possible (if I am there that early of course LOL).

    Sounds like a great day.

I spent the day with my parents and my kids (wife went to her folks). We rode the ATV's and had a ball. Didn't get a chance to do any shootin , but that's ok. We were all together. What more can you ask for?
