    Euc - I think any .44 mag can be regarded happily as at very least ''entry level'' hand cannon !!

    500 - yep - that is about the pinnacle of cannon badness I am lusting after the 460 - whether I get weak willed enough to get one is another matter!.

    500 - this won't match the sheer top size - cos I know how monstrous that X frame of yours is - but as a fun comparison - this makes a contrast! ......

    Not sure if you mean this one Bud - but I have this pic which from cylinder length appears to be a 45-70 like mine. I forget the story behind it but IIRC it must have been a squib followed by a full load!!

    I used to have a Ruger Blackhawk in 44 Mag with a 12" barrel. It was a blast (pun intended) to shoot, especially long range. I had a place where I could shoot 300 yds. into a dirt bank, so you could see immediately where you were hitting. From a rest position on top of my truck I could hit empty milk jugs with pretty good regularity. Never had so much fun except maybe with a .30 cal carbine. Great thread.

    OG - Haha so you like long tubes too eh? I always wanted a 12"!

    You mentioned 300 yards - well, (and I may have posted this before) - back in early 80's I shot long range handgun at Bisley England - this ol' pic shows me in my pre-gray/white hair days, with the trusty 7 1/2" Redhawk. We shot two distances, 100 and 300, the latter being quite a challenge of course.

    Once sighted in tho yes indeed, accuracy can be remarkable. I actually went not for top ''screamer'' loads but what was effectively a hot 44 spl - so trajectory was pretty arched but heck - they got in there quite tight. Loved that - good ol' days they were.
