Thumbs down Darn 3 Day Delay!

I have no clue as to why this always happens to me.

I have lived in five different states, and everyone gives me the three day delay.
No record, and not even a speeding ticket in the last 4 years.

It happens even when I use my SSN# and When I dont use my SSN# on the 4473 forms.

Whats usually is the reason behind this? Anyway I can get the ATF to stop making me wait 3 days? I hold a C&R FFL, and you would figure the ATF has a file on me that shows Im not a criminal.

The only state that I have lived that gave me some "help" was in Delaware. The DE State Police wrote me a letter and said they were putting a note in my file that there shouldn't be a delay in my firearms transaction. I can buy long guns there with no delay. But everywhere else, its always a hassle.

My friend has the same trouble. The way I hear it is that there is someone with a name/alias/description close to his that is on the no no list. At least that's what a gunstore owner or two has told him. I guess they just need the extra time to prove he's not the guy they are looking for.

What I don't understand, and I don't know about other states, but putting your SSN# on the document is optional in Ohio. You would figure it would be easy to confirm someones identity with that plus all the other information listed. He always writes his in and it still takes the three days.

    Name change?

You really need to have your name legally changed from John Dillinger to something else.

    same thing happens to me.

My brother has a very similar name, and our SS numbers are only 1 number off.

Problem is that he is currently on the run from the law, so I end up waiting longer as they make sure I am not him.

Funny thing is, seems he never has any problem getting his weapons. (some full auto no less). Guess we do need that extra gun control.
Now, we must all fear evil men. But there is another kind of evil which we must fear most, and that is the indifference of good men.

You could always go the route of getting one of those unique personal Id numbers and put that on the 4473. Then, when they call it in they will give them that number as well and you shouldn't have to wait for three days.
