Another thought, you pulled the trigger because your brain had committed to pulling that trigger and could not rescind that order in time when it realized you weren't really ready. I use to play tennis in my younger days. When you toss the ball up to serve it has to be a perfect toss or you stand a very high probability of serving badly. Many times you hit the serve just as your brain tells you it is a bad toss. You can't react fast enough to that message.
