I haven't messed with Para's since I bought my P-12 about 16 years ago. I figured one was enough, eh?

When the NRA convention was in Kansas City a few years back I was checking out their booth and asked the guy what LDA meant. He said, "light double action" and handed me one to try.

Oh my lord... It was like dragging a hot knife through a stick of butter. Absolutely no creep and a clean break! I don't know, but if I had to guess, I would think maybe a six or seven pound pull? Without putting a gauge on it, I really don't know.

But it is sweet! If I ever get another Para, I'll be getting an LDA.

Side note: I've never met a guy who dissed the 9mm volunteer to be shot with one... And taxi driver Mark Yuhr in Miami shot a guy 7 or 8 times at point blank range with a .45 acp who was trying to kill him after robbing him. (the medical examiner couldn't tell if one of the wounds was the 8th entrance wound or an exit wound) The guy died a few minutes later, but not before trying to raise his gun again and shoot him. When it comes to a handgun as a self defense weapon, it's all relative, and nothing is 100%.

And by convincing your wife she needs one, do you mean to say you really want to get one?
Nah, I want a Carry 12, I'm ready to sell my SIG after I had the oporotunity to shoot a Carry 9 at the last IDPA match, the trigger pull is very nice and smooth.

So is the LDA a double action for the fist shot and single action thereafter?

Nope, the LDA is double action only.

Thatís why I like it - the gun is going to do the same (basic) thing every time...

btw I have been convinced (yes I know it's a miracle I finally desided )
    - I wasn't sure about the 1911 slide safety but went I went and played with it I found that it wasnít bad.

I will definitely be getting one as my regular carry.

I think you'll be very happy with the LDA, however, unless Para has changed their process in the last year, you may not want the matte balck finish on your gun, try and get stainless if you can, if you can't get stainless get the finish redone, both the Paras I had in the matte black looked worse after 3 months of carry than any other gun I've ever had.

Funny you would mention that JD. There's a full-size, single-stack Para 1911 LDA at a local gunshop & the black finish looks as ugly as a sack full of....,um, well, uh..., REAL UGLY.
