I'm working on a magazine design project and need some help in identifying the most common semi-auto pistols in use right now.
Only semi-autos please.
What are they?

I would think Glock, 1911's , SA XD's , and Sigs are popular.

Browning Hi-Power, Interarms/Walther PPK, Ruger Mark III
Specific models/calibers if you can name them.
There is a string on here I see come up often called something like :what is your primary carry wepon" There are about a zillion hits on it so if you have time to sift through and make a count I'm betting you will come up with some fairly reliable statical averages.
I carry to protect myself and my loved ones from the BG's. Not to solve societies problems. That said: if more carried the deterrent would only have a positive overall effect on those problems.
Khar, Keltec, 1911, glock, XD, H&K, CZ, Ruger P series, Sig,
mostly in 9mm, .40, and .45
toss in some .380 and you'll have 75% is my bet.

As with all statements I've made and All that I will make, please check your local laws to verify accuracy. (and if i'm wrong let me know as I like to be right in the future) After all I'm just some goofball posting on an internet forum.
Just off the top of my head.....
Glock- many different models, most are proabably 17s & 19s
1911- in .45, many models
Sig- many different models, 228,229 probably the most
Beretta 92 9mm- military & LEOS
Makarov- both Russian & Chinese versions
H&K- many models
S&W- many semi models still used by LEOs, plus new M&P
CZ- many models
Browning Hi power 9mm- some militaries still use versions
Ruger- P Series, LEOs using these as well.
(I use to have some more detailed info, I'll see if I can find it.....)

My top 10 would have to be the following, this is what I mainly see.
1911 5" .45

Glock 19 9mm
Glock 23 .40
Glock 26 9mm
Glock 27 .40
Sig 226 9mm
Sig 220 .45
Springfield XD 9mm (and others)
Taurus Millennium Pro Pistols 9mm
Judging from holster sales, here goes (in no particular order):

4.25" 1911
4" 1911
3"1911
Glock19/23
Glock26/27

Question is, are your holster sales representative? I'm kind of guessing that there's some correlation between custom gunleather and certain sorts of pistols (1911s, for example). Plus, looking at CCW holsters excludes duty guns entirely, which would be a pretty big portion of the semi-auto market.
The most recognized semi guns are the ones more seen in TV or Movies. I am goint to think average Joe and give you my list not in any specific order.
Glock (all gansta carry Glocks)
Beretta 92 (Lethal Weapon movies plus military & LEO)
1911 (WWII Movies)
Walther PP & PPK (James Bond & other spy movies)
