The National Parks are to 'preserve' as is the natural state of things for its own sake and for the public to observe and enjoy with minimum inpact.

The National Forest on the other hand is under the Dept of Agriculture and intends that all manner of business $ activity be intelligently encouraged ,,, lumber, mining, cattle, ski resorts to name a few.

The NF has some areas set aside as wilderness but in season many of those can be hunted.

NF does not equal NP and never should .... many times more NF square miles than NP.
