I was watching the Daily Show last night with John Stewart, and Jodie Foster came on the show promoting her new movie "The Brave One". The movie is about her getting a gun and looking for trouble after getting jumped and her fiance killed in New York City.

Anyway they talk quickly about shooting guns, and then she says something along the lines of "yea, having a gun on you definitely does something to you. It's a very powerful feeling. I don't feel that people should be allowed to walk around with guns. It gives you the feeling that, hey-I don't have to wait in this line, and I might pull it out then".

Anyone who would say something like that DEFINITELY doesn't need to be carrying a gun. But of course this plays into everyone's fears that are watching this at home. More anti propaganda.

You could make the same statement about a butter knife, so let's start banning them. Having a tool doesn't make you evil, it's the person who has decided to use violence as a means to threaten others that is the danger. It's the mindset.

That's it, I just needed to rant about it. It never ceases to amaze me how rational thinking doesn't play a part in society.
Oh yea Jodie, when does this happen? There are millions of gun owners and CC permit holders in this country and when exactly have you heard of this happening by any of them?

    From an interview:
What do you think is the larger social commentary of The Brave One, which in some ways plays as a straight-up Dirty Harry revenge movie?
(Jody) Here's my commentary: I don't believe that any gun should be in the hand of a thinking, feeling, breathing human being. Americans are by nature filled with rage-slash-fear. And guns are a huge part of our culture. I know I'm crazy because I'm only supposed to say that in Europe. But violence corrupts absolutely. By the end of this, her transformation is complete. ''F--- all of you, now I'm just going to kill people with my bare hands.''

I tend to agree with your statement. Her views of guns are framed in large part based on an individual shooting a President to "impress her." Doesn't make her statement wrong or correct, it's her opinion.

If she can't differentiate between the actions of a lunatic and a regular Joe then she's got problems.

I think Jodie Foster is rather cute but don't like her movies much. Ever seen Contact?

    Actually.........

I have an interesting spin on Ms. Foster; This past weekend I met my Brother's fiance', since they are marrying later in 2008. She is a practicing psychologist that does part time work for local police departments in Virginia. We were watching college football when a movie trailer for "the brave one" ran. I remarked that I had seen the movie, when my Bro's bride-to-be piped up that she had seen the movie as well. I told her about how I thought it was somewhat hypocritical that Jodie went and made a movie about a person who took matters into her own hands regarding self-defense, yet was totally against private firearms ownership. i said that I guessed it was all of that Yale-harvard liberalism that caused it; She came right out and said, that "no, actually Ms. Foster has a huge inferiority complex." when I inquired as to how she knew this, she told me that she could tell by the way she spoke and answered questions on the TV show interviews she gave. So I asked her how accurate her predictions were with other people and she said pretty accurate. So then I said, what about me? what are your impressions, to which she replied, "I think you are a Sheepdog among a bunch of sheep" and then proceeded to reach into her purse and pull out her wallet, producing her carry license from her home state of Virginia........

My response: I reached over, gave her a big hug, kissed her on the cheek and welcomed her to the family, inviting her out to the range the next time they were down.

Now I am going to have another relative-gun toter in amongst all of my liberal gun hating relatives in liberal land........Indeed God has smiled upon me...
