The topic of this thread is:
Should blind people (not) be allowed to own guns?

I did not see any questions posed in the members thread about carrying them for purposes of self~defense.

Yes, they should be allowed their rights the same as the rest of us. Ultimately, they are also responsible for where their bullets end up. I would think that most blind people would realize that and not wish to court the liability, but it's totally their decision and right to decide.

I have a blind friend, who can tell visually that I am standing in front of him, but has to hear my voice to know it's me. Blind does not necessarily mean totally without sight.

Yes, it's important to differentiate between legally blind, totally blind, and vision impaired. They are not all the same thing.

I have two blind Uncles (they are twins) and they both own firearms.
One of them lives in Baltimore city, and knows that his life depends on owning firearms.

My other uncle lives in Rural WV and has put bells on his windows and doors. That way he knows where to point is someone does enter and intends to cause harm.

I'll try to find video of my Uncle shooting at bottles.

Belive it or not, he hit a few and came close to the others.

We tied fishing line to little bells near each bottle.

I shoot with a guy who is legally blind. He also has a CCW permit. He can hit man sized targets at 10yrds. Can he shoot in as many situations as a full sighted person? No, but he understands his "rules of engagement " are different than it may be for most of us.

A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.

I dont see any eyesight requirements........YES we all have the right.

A fella i have traded guns with for years is " blind " he loves browning and colt pocket pistols , and you cannot snow his " fingers " on condition . I have traded guns with him for 30 years or so , and never seen him shoot a round , or trade for guns out of his likes . He will pay a fair price for a good example of his fortee , and my opinion is he is like all of us in that he appreciates a fine firearm , he just does it with his fingers rather than his eyes .
Make sure you get full value out of today , Do something worthwhile, because what you do today will cost you one day off the rest of your life .
