    Scandium 1911 - custom work?

I'm considering purchasing a S&W full sized, scandium 1911 (non-bill board model). This pistol may eventually work it's way into my carry rotation. I want the scandium to reduce carry weight. However, as all my other pistols are non-descript, black, polymer, and I'm like one show/BBQ gun, I am planning on having some custom work done on this pistol including some stiplling (sp?).

Will the scandium frame limit what the gunsmith will be able to do?

    Thanks!

The Scandium Alloy used by S&W is still primarily Aluminum with only a small % of Scandium added to the mix for increased toughness not available in an all-Aluminum frame. Unlike Titanium, which calls for specialized cutting tools & machining technique, this mostly Aluminum alloy will be much more "conventional" with regards to custom gunsmithing. I would suspect that anything available for an Aluminum framed 1911 should be available for a Scandium model.

I had my LW Scandium 1911 Commander Bobtailed by Jess gypin at www.ontargetcgw.net , He also did a trigger job and recrowned it. It was all superb, reasonable and fast work.

How big of a job would be to remove the infamous
bill board writing" on the commander sized S&Wsc? I'm concerned that it would be hard to match the slide to the sc frame?
