My family is more into recreational shooting than competition. We enjoy making a coffee can dance and like the balance of the longer barrel. I think my brother has 1 or 2 of the shorter barrel ones, but they (like the outlaws) don't show up at the ranch too often.

We have a gong set up at 100 yards (our short rifle range). While we can dance the coffee can with our lever actions (9/10 shots offhand), the pistols usually are good for 4 of 6 hits on the 18" target at that range.

I really like my Gen I Vaquero in .45 Colt.

Another thought for you might be the Beretta Stampede. I have a
4-3/4" Inox in .45 LC that is a blast to shoot and accurate to boot.

I vote for a Uberti Colt Clone. The Rugers (the one's I'ved handled) just don't feel like the Colt. The Uberti is a much more faithful copy and a nice gun. My father has a Colt SAA and a Uberti clone, both in .45LC and the Uberti really is a good copy.

    JMHO anyway.

    Take care,
