    nighttime photo of ported 1911

I thought ya'll might enjoy a nighttime photo of a SA 1911 Longslide V-16. We did this with a common digital camera and just used gut-instinct timing.......no fancy equipment. The V-16 is referencing the 8 ports on each side of the barrel. In the photo you should be able to see 8 vents on one side, notice the v-shaped fire.

Slide forward, hammer back... it's already cycled. And apparently, the shooter has it back on target already, and still has enough hot gas in the barrel for a flame show like that?

    Amazing!
Liberty is an inherently offensive lifestyle. Living in a free society guarantees that each one of us will see our most cherished principles and beliefs questioned and in some cases mocked. It's worth it.

I guess I never realized that the hammer would be cocked and the slide in battery while the flame was still present. I guess if you never see it in slow motion or in a still photo it would be difficult to know.

    Great picture!
I do not understand why the hammer is cocked in the picture. Shouldn't it be down? I assume that in the picture it has just fired and not yet cycled the slide (re-cocking the hammer). Could someone please explain what I am missing. Thanks.

The only explanation I believe is that it has already cycled.
Good control keeping it on target.
Would have been nice to have another photo to go with this one that showed the bullet just after it left the barrel. I suspect that would have shown the slide in cycle.

Would there still be flash like that after enough time passed for it to cycle?

If it was taken by a member I believe it wasn't doctored and can only come to the conclusion that it has already cycled.

Please do not get me wrong. I am not accusing anyone. I only wish to learn. I think that it is a cool picture and appreciate that he shared it with us. I'm sure that there is a good honest reason how it ended up that way and thought that the more knoledable about these things could explain it to me.
I hope that no offense was taken.
