    Gun values

Does anyone know of a free site you can go and look up the value of a gun? I have one I am considering selling and I would like to have an idea how I should price it. Thanks.

What I usually do is just look at gunbroker or GunsAmerica, they usually have at least one of everything used for sale.

As a basic rule of thumb, unless you have something with real collectors appeal or rarity, basically subtract atleast $150 from what you paid for it new, that's if its in pretty good condition. Subtract $100 at least if it's like new in the box with all factory accessories.

*Note: That's if YOU sell it outright to someone, if you trade it in, you're taking even more of a hit.

+1 for gunbroker, even if I don't buy from them, if I'm looking for a gun I always check them out before I buy. Once you learn the ins and outs you can pretty well figure the value of any gun from checking them for a week or so.

Depending on what it is, dont forget to take in account location. I.E; a 30-06 deer rifle isnt worth as much here in Ohio (no rifles allowed for deer hunting) as it might be in PA. (rifles allowed)

And if you do look through gunbroker for prices, remember to look at what people are actually bidding for and how much. A lot of times people put guns up for sale for ridiculously high prices at first just to see if they can get a sucker to pay that. If it doesn't go in a little while they will start reducing the price until they get bidders.

Wow! No .30-06's allowed! I couldn't cope if I wasn't secure in the knowledge that I could take my trusty .30-06 to the deer woods.

    Deer season opens here tomorrow!

Is it steel framed or alloy?

best price, probably $850 for 100%

trade in value about $600 if 100%

few on gun broker right now, none are over $500.00 yet.
