    oil saturation inside round?

I'm not sure how common this is but I am wondering if anyone reading this has encountered a bad round or rounds in their firearm. Occasionally I over do it in the oil department and this question always comes to mind. I'm no re-loader and I really don't know if primer or bullet seal is sufficient to withstand a breach of liquid. Anyone?

A good reason to shoot and replace your carry ammo occasionally.

Easy answer, keep your chamber, mags and cylinder dry. Do NOT leave any kind of kreeping oil in these mechanisms. If you lightly oil and then patch/mop/wipe out thoroughly it should be all the rust preventative you need. Don't leave em' wet.

    Oil

I tested this a while ago by submerging assorted rounds in Hoppes, salt water, and WD40 for a few hours up to about 5 weeks. The majority fired fine except for some .22lr. Only one or two centerfires failed. See also here: http://www.theboxotruth.com/docs/bot39.htm

    Thumbs up Superhouse 15

    Great actual test.
And...you used some true penetrating type oils.
    That was a great mythbuster.
It sure was worth clicking on that link.
