Cant "slingshot" My 1911??
Well to start I own a PT1911 from taurus.. its a great shooter and eats anything I feed it begging me for more.. But to load it I cant pull and tare my gun into two pieces like I was taught at TDI, it will jam up and not load. But if I use the slide release button it will load everytime... What is going on here, I want to carry it more often but I cant seeing as how I dont trust it 100%

Is there an aftermarket slide stop that I can get to eliminate this problem

Youll get many opinions on that but they are supposed to save wear and tear on the Gun

Shok-Buff
Here's an explanation:
http://www.wilsoncombat.com/a_shokbuff.asp
You should never install on of these things in a pistol that's carried for self-defense. They're made from polymer, and they will disintegrate with use. It's best to restrict their use to target or range guns, if at all.
Shok-Buffs and full length guide rods for the M1911 pistol are "transfer" devices - they transfer money from your pocket to the seller's pocket.
When you’re wounded and left on Afghanistan’s plains,
And the women come out to cut up what remains,
Just roll to your rifle and blow out your brains,
And go to your God like a soldier.

Try a different magazine. Chances are that the round you try to "slingshot" into battery is 'dubbing' the feed point and tipping just enough to cause the jam. When you use the slide release the slide is forward enough to make slipping the cartridge out of the mag lips a less violent event and therefore it will feed.
Personally, I wouldn't worry about it if it otherwise feeds OK. Really, if you need more than ONE magazine you really need a shotgun!!!

I have heard that at least one custom maker (Baer, maybe?) uses an oversized slidestop, requiring it to be used. I believe Taurus did this intentionally. An aftermarket SS should fix your problem.
Currently, the SS you have is catching yourslide at its rear most point, so you don't have the physical space to effectively sling the slide.

When I replaced the recoil spring on my Kimber I had this problem. I went with a Wolff 17 pound spring and I couldn't slingshot. I replaced that one with a "standard" Kimber recoil spring and I've had no problems since then.

Ball or hollow pts or both?
Some need ball only to load as you said then work ok when fired.
