How to clean corrosion from aluminum 10/22 reciever

I pulled out my Ruger 10/22 because it hasn't been shot in forever. It's a stainless barrel with laminate stock model that I don't think they sell any more. The receiver has a lot of what I guess is corrosion especially around the trigger guard. It looks like those parts are made from aluminum.

Is there any way to clean it off without damaging the gun? I tried a little CLP and a rag, then some Blue Wonder cleaner that smells like amonia with some 0000 steel wool but i'm afraid of hurting the finish. Would it be clear anodized and will that fine steel wool hurt clear anodizing?

What else can I try? I'd like to make it look new if I can.

Google search for Gord's Aluminum Polish.
    They also make a sealer.
As with all restoration & refinishing on firearms do a small test patch first.

If the corrosion is really bad and the surface is super pitted then you can always disassemble and carefully sand the surface...degrease it and refinish with a moly spray available from Brownell's which will give it a nice new and durable finish..

How about Kroil? I've used it to remove rusted areas from blue Mossberg 500s and Ruger PC4 carbines.

If polishing is a solution I can do that no problem.

The corrosion isn't bad at all. Really ugly but the surface is fine once I get the corrosion off.

    thanks!

Turns out it's actually got some sort of finish on it. It doesn't look like duracoat or something baked on. It actually looks like paint. It's a great color match to the unfinished areas of the receiver.

Not sure what I want to do but I think I'm going to finish cleaning it and put it back together. I don't care to spend more on refinishing it than the gun cost. Maybe I'll take it to my dads place when I go there next weekend. He's always got good ideas when it comes to stuff like this. Maybe he'll have an idea of how to clean it up without a full refinish.
