This is NOT the cosmetic bill from the Clinton era and does NOT include a sunset expiration, this one DOES ban many more guns, not just features, going so far as to ban WWII era rifles such as the M1 Garand and semi-automatic shotguns. Do your homework, learn about the details and contact your representative, act locally, raise awareness.
over 40,800 have already signed the petition to stop it
you should too

Done!
Lets get going people!

The Second Amendment has nothing to do with hunting. It is about keeping the government in check. This requires that the citizenry is well armed and at all times has immediate access to arms.

Probably much better off writing your Congressional representatives and telling them to vote no on HR1022 should it ever leave committee.

There's also a petition running for those in favor of HR-1022. Last time I checked, that petition had something like 10 signatures.

Just roll to your rifle and blow out your brains,

War is not the ugliest of things. Worse is the decayed state of moral feeling which thinks nothing is worth a war. A man who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which he cares for more than his personal safety, is a miserable creature who has no chance of being free. -J.S. Mill

Assault Weapons Ban
I believe that in 2009, if we have a Democrat president, that the AWB will be quickly resurrected by Congress. Hopefully Bush would not sign this bill if it reaches him prior to 2009, although I would not bet my life on that hope.
The joker in the deck is the Supreme Court. I'll be watching what they do on the Washington DC case they will consider soon.
