Kimber Eclipse II vs. Springfield Armory Black Stainless

I decided I'm finally going to save my pennies for a higher end 1911, but am not willing to spend more than a grand. The two that really catch my eye the most are the Kimber Eclipse and the Springfield Black Stainless. They're two of the most beautiful 1911s I have ever seen. I've been a pretty die hard Springfield fan when it comes to 1911s, and have only owned Springfields. I have considered the Kimber Eclipse, due to it being about the same finish as Springfield's Black Stainless. If anyone can give me some hands on experience with these two guns, I would love to read about it.

I have an Eclipse in 10mm. After looking up close at the Kimber & the Springer....I prefer the Kimber Eclipse over the Black Stainless for the look.

Easy for me the Springer for one simple reason no extra parts in the trigger area lot easier to remove the ILS of a Springer than the parts from a Kimber..

I do like the looks of the Eclipse better though

Stick with Springfield. If for no other reason than the lifetime warranty. Later model Kimbers, while very nice looking guns have had issues and Kimber is not noted for their excellent factory warranty service. From what I can gather Kimber will keep on telling you to shoot another 500 rounds thru it rather than actually repairing your expensive pistol.

My husband carries an Eclipse in a .45. Sweet firearm, very accurate, and quality parts. I've carried it from time to time, used it in my classes monthly, and it preforms flawlessly every time.
